I've not owned this vacuum long, but I picked one up recently at my local W-mart for 46 dollars. Although there are few reviews on Amazon, the other store's website has over 500 user reviews that are mostly positive. For the very minimal price paid, I consider this a good vacuum. It is better constructed than I would expect, considering the very low price. So far I am very pleased with the job it's done on my carpets. This vacuum features washable filters and uses no bags, a long-term money saver. You can see the collected dirt swirling in the transparent collection chamber as you vacuum. My old vacuum would clog up frequently, so it's nice to be able to see the unit working without stopping and removing a bag.My only minor complaint is that the vacuum seems slightly short. It feels as if I have to reach a little farther than I do with other models. This could just be my perception, and it doesn't pose a major problem. If I were substantially over six feet tall I might want to compare this vacuum's physical height to others before buying. My vacuum came with a one year warranty from Bissell, which is more than you'll find on a lot of consumer products. No, it's not quite a Dyson, but for 90% less money it does a decent job.

Last year I adopted a dog who is part German Shepherd/Standard Poodle mix. Unfortunately for me, he didn't inherit the poodle's non-shedding gene. He's very large and he sheds...A LOT, even brushing him daily didn't help. My old Eureka Mighty Mite wasn't doing the job, and I had to vacuum more than once a day. I had enough of that nonsense and did a little research. I found this Bissel and decided to buy it. My carpets look like new and I was shocked at what that little canister was filled with after vacuuming a small area the first time I used it. The first few times you use it it will fill up fast if you had an ordinary vacuum before. When you detach the hose to use the attachments it doesn't lose any suction. It does a good job in all of its functions for the corners and stairways. This is a fantastic vacuum. Probably the best I've owned and I've had quite a few in my time. I'm so glad I bought this. I would recommend this to a friend/relative. I will repeat: My old carpets look like new. You will not be disappointed. Excellent value at very reasonable price.

This vacuum is sold at Walmart (which is where I bought it), it's really the only decently priced one they sell at my local store. The first one I bought lasted me about about a month after the warranty ended. The plastic cover on the bottom (and I'm not kidding or exaggerating) melted and would break any new belts I tried to put on it. I figured out that the vacuum has like 5 "filters" that need to be regularly cleaned and I was only cleaning the inside chamber. OK, maybe that was my fault. Since it cost $30-40 to replace the part and $50 dollars for a new vacuum, I just went and bought a new vacuum- the same vacuum. Fast forward another year-Just after warranty on the second vacuum has ended- and suddenly it just stopped working. It won't suck up anything and I can't figure out why, even after taking the whole thing apart. So, the next vacuum I buy won't be a Bissel.
