Great price for a great vacuum

My first vacuum was the Eureka Altima. It looks pretty much just like this one same price ect. I bought that vacuum in November 2006. It did a great job for 3 straight years. It went from our apartment to now our town house. However it started to act funny...it would shut off unexpectedly, or not turn off. Something electrical and probably could have been fixed. But I convinced my husband it was time to retire our old vacuum. I have a 2.5 year old a 4 month old and a chow-chow. Being Christmas time and having the old vacuum acting weird I couldn't spend a lot of money.When I found this vacuum I decided to order it. I am so glad I did. Once again I got a great vacuum for a great price. It picks up everything...It's no Dyson but for the price who can argue? It cost 1/5 of the cheapest dyson.There are a few flaws: 1) the HEPA filter has to be cleaned often..I don't mind it because it gets the dust and stuff out. Also this is because I have a dog and the hair gets around it and it loses suction. 2) it does not have a bare floor setting...but once again it's ok with me. I tend to sweep my kitchen then use the hose to suck up the dirt. Our bedrooms are hardwood and I do the same as in kitchen.If you have previously owned a Eureka I would encourage you to get this one.

Worst Vacuum Ever...

Suction power is very low and the filter has to be cleaned out halfway through vacuuming my apartment, and my apartment is not very large. Very pricey for a large noisemaker that pushes and blows dirt around your carpets. Construction is poor and hard to disconnect the "bagless" container (would probably be better with a bag because you finally get the container open and remove the filter and half the dirt and dust you collected spills out back on your carpet) and get the filter apart and clean. The self cleaning duster is completely useless, as are the hose attachments because the suction power is so weak. I have had $29 Walmart vacuums that work better than this piece of garbage.

DOESN'T WORK ON LOW CARPET!

This vacuum does not work if you have low carpet like I have. It hasn't worked from day one (yes, I have the vacuum set on "low carpet"). It just blows the debris out the back of the vacuum. It balls up dust and spits that out as well. I thought I sucked something up that caused a clog and just put it aside until my husband could look at it. He cleaned the vacuum out completely and there was an average dust ball in the tube but that was it. It didn't help at all. The vacuum works fine on a shag area rug I have in my living room so I guess it's just my bedroom carpet. I've gone back to using my 5 year old Hoover that works 100 times better than this vacuum. If you have low carpet do not bother with this vacuum at all.
