I've never reviewed a vacuum cleaner before. In fact, I never review any products, but my husband and I have been laughing all evening. I bought this vacuum cleaner the other day, after our Oreck died. We needed a lightweight vacuum to keep upstairs only, and since the Eureka Powerline was also fairly small, it was perfect for us. My husband vacuumed first and the canister was full. The amazing thing was though... we had JUST vacuumed the day before. We have short haired 2 cats and 2 short haired dogs. I took the Eureka downstairs and cleaned the living room, and again, the canister was FULL. We emptied it and went over the living room again, and again it filled up. That's when we realized how much dirt and pet hair our old vacuums had been missing! We've been cleaning with this like crazy ever since. The "power paw" attachment worked great on our couches, and it comes with a crevice tool that was really all we needed.I know I sound like an infomercial, but I'm so impressed with this vacuum. We got a great deal on it and its better than any vacuum we've owned before.

We bought this vacuum for 50 bucks on special. This sucker picked up much more than our previous vacuum ever did. I especially love the hose brush. I cleaned all my furniture with it.I have 2 complaints, although I don't think they are worthy of reducing the rating.1. The brush needs to be "pulsed" against fabric because it eventually loses RPM if you hold it too long against a surface.2. As another reviewer complained, the hose attachment easily falls out of the vacuum. This can be easily fixed however by stretching the hose properly before setting it in.

Eureka Powerline Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum with Turbo Nozzle, 4773AZ:I do not know what other people expect from a vacuum cleaner, but this vacuum works very well at picking up cat fur off the carpet. The cyclonic catching chamber was easy to empty and the different sweeping levels were very easy to adjust. The Eureka Powerline Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum with Turbo Nozzle, 4773AZ came packed very well in a single box. When I opened the box the very first thing that I saw was the "Quick Start Guide." After reading it, I began to unpack the box. I placed each piece that came from the box in a row that corresponded to the assembly instructions.After reviewing the assembly instructions, I got the tools needed for the assembly, which consisted of a couple of cabinet screwdrivers, one each Phillips No. 2 and Slotted 3/16-Inch. Each of these screwdrivers has long round shafts and were needed to get the recessed screws tightened in the handle. It took me about 15 minutes to put this vacuum together. After taking the plug guard off of the plug, I plugged the vacuum in and pressed the red start button with my foot and voilà, the vacuum started and I adjusted the handle with the other foot lever and off I went vacuuming the carpet, tile, and hardwood floors, adjusting the height bar when I came to the different floor types.It worked just perfectly and it picked up more than I had imagined that was embedded in the carpeted floors. By adjusting the height of the beater bar I had no problem with the hardwood or the tile floors. The Eureka Powerline Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum works great. Now, the next thing on my inaugural test of this vacuum was the tools. Again, following the instructions, I proceeded to use the accessories and they all performed well. I couldn't find a fault in this machine. It has plenty of suction and works extremely well with cat fur pick-up. Eureka is a part of the company called Electrolux Home Care Products, Inc. The Owner's Guide is full of information, maintenance, care, problem solving, warranty and 800 numbers to call when and if you have a problem with the vacuum. An interesting piece of information found in this manual is that this vacuum has a thermal cut-off.This vacuum cleaner has a special thermostat that protects the vacuum in case of motor overheating. If this vacuum suddenly shuts off, push the power switch to off (O) and unplug the vacuum. Check the vacuum for possible source of overheating such as a full dust cup, blocked hose or clogged filter. If these conditions are found, fix them and wait at least 30 minutes before attempting to use the vacuum. After 30 minute period, plug the vacuum back in and turn on the switch. Overall, I found this vacuum to be very well built, and very effective at cleaning. The power "claw" attachment is great for carpeted stairs and furniture. All accessories fit right on the unit, so there is no hunting around for the bits and pieces. This Eureka vacuum is one that I would recommend for an everyday vacuum or for a replacement if you are dead set on spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum.Update 1/15/13: The only problem that I had with this vacuum was that the wheels had a squeak, the solution was a couple drops of 3:1 oil, placed on the hub at the axil of each wheel and the squeak is gone. Maintenance is important for the life of any mechanical device, so removing strings from the beater brush is important and cleaning out the cyclonic chamber will maintain better air flow. I checked the flexible hose and there were NO hairballs stopping the suction or air flow. This is an excellent vacuum for the price. Remember to read, follow and, understand maintenance of this vacuum and that is found in the owner's guide. Eureka also has a website and 800 numbers for extra needed assistance.
